As previously decided, Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has submitted forms to Elections Commission, for candidacy in 86 constituencies for Parliamentary election 2019.

MDP submitted the candidacy forms today, in an event held at Elections Commission headquarters located at old Jamaluddin School grounds.

The forms were presented separately by each candidate for the constituency to Vice Chairperson of Elections Commission Amjad Musthafa.

MDP has elected to not run in only one constituency in the upcoming Parliamentary elections - the Nilandhoo constituency.

After formally receiving the forms presented by MDP, Vice Chairperson of Elections Commission Amjad Musthafa addressed the members. He said that the cooperation of all people are needed to ensure a fair and independent Parliamentary election.

Current President of MDP and Parliamentary hopeful for the Mid-Machchangoalhi constituency, former President Nasheed spoke on behalf of the party today. He expressed his joy that the Elections Commission are working diligently to ensure a fair and independent Parliamentary election.  

President Nasheed added that it is his hope that MDP and all other political parties offer full cooperation to the Commission in this regard. He also noted that the people will also cooperate with the Commission in ensuring that the upcoming elections are fair and independent.
