Former President, Mohamed Nasheed has said that he strongly believes that the results desired by MDP for the upcoming Parliament can be obtained in working with Adhaalath Party.

The former President said this while addressing the press at an event at Marble Hotel today. He reiterated that the organization of Adhaalath Party is not far from that of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP). Nasheed said that it becomes easier to work with a political party after witnessing the foundations on which a party is built.

As such, President Nasheed said that it is very easy to work along with Adhaalath Party after understanding the internal operational aspects within the party. He added that Adhaalath Party also agrees with MDP policies from time to time.

The former President reiterated that both parties agree on matters such as legislative reform, collection of taxes from self-owned businesses, determining minimum wage of employees as well as granting unemployment benefits and various other matters.

While President Nasheed has said that MDP and Adhaalath Party have similar policies, Nasheed has said that there will be no leeway in handing over Parliamentary seats to Adhaalath party.

Nasheed has said that he will not violate even one word or letter in MDP’s fundamental rules and reiterated that the ultimate decision of MDP is to campaign for majority of the Parliamentary seats.

President Nasheed also said that the upcoming Parliamentary elections will bring on a major victory for MDP.
