"President Solih was elected to implement MDP’s manifesto"

Former President Mohamed Nasheed said that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih was elected to implement Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) third manifesto.

President Nasheed said this while speaking at the inauguration of MDP’s Parliamentary “Agenda ‘19” campaign event last night. He noted that this is MDP’s second governance. He said that the current government has been elected to implement the party’s manifesto.

As such, the former President also said that the current manifesto has been composed to actually implement what was pledged to the people. He said that President Solih and his cabinet are with MDP.

President Nasheed assured that the government pledges will be fulfilled 100 per cent. He said that the current administration has been elected for one purpose alone; and that is to serve its people.

Nasheed further said that what the people want is a different form of governance. He added that it is the government that imposes islamic rules, established human rights and prevents inflation. The former President also added that the people want a government that is able to provide adequate wages where people can earn money with integrity and allow it to reach their homes through legal means. He added that the people desire establishing a generation of such a people.
