Supreme Court of the Maldives has said that there are no obstructions to issue court orders in the English language.

A practice direction issued by the Supreme Court today said that the power to issue a court order regarding a person, place or object outside the Maldives borders is reserved by the Supreme Court.

The court said that it is important to issue such court orders in such a away that is conveyed to the recipients in those cases.

And so, there is no obstructions or objections to issue court orders in the English language with the directives from the Penal Code and the relevant Laws.

According to the Trial and Penal Code Act, the authority to issue court orders in line with International regulations lie with the Criminal Court. Objections to a court order from the Criminal Court may be appealed at the High Court before appealing at the Supreme Court.
