Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has announced a concept for allocating daily minimum wage for jobs all across Maldives.
The concept was introduced as part of the amendments that would be proposed in the upcoming 19th body of Parliament. As such, the political party has opened up the opportunity to offer feedback on the amendment concept concerning minimum wages for the workforce in Maldives.
The concept dictates that minimum wage will be allocated on the categorical basis of the field of employment. As such, minimum wage for the average service jobs would be set at MVR 200 daily.
The minimum wage for resort jobs proposed in the amendment concept is MVR 333.33.
The daily minimum wages for various categories are listed below:
- Fisheries and Agriculture (daily MVR 266.67)
- Healthcare Services (daily MVR 266.67)
- Educational Services (daily MVR 266.67)
- Travel and Transport (daily MVR 266.67)
- Other employment in tourism industry (daily MVR 200)
- Construction work (daily MVR 200)
The concept composed has reportedly allocated daily minimum wage based on the lowest wage typically paid in that industry.
