Officers of the Maldives Police Service and the Correctional Service has entered Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) to take the former Vice President, Ahmed Adeeb, back to prison.

The wife of the former Vice President, Mariyam Nashwa, took to Twitter moments ago stating that authorities are trying to take Adeeb back to prison against medical advice. A close friend of Adeeb, Shumba has also shared an image of police and correctional officers at IGMH.

Police has also confirmed that they are working with the Correctional Service to take Adeeb back to prison.

The MP for Velidhoo constituency, Yaamin Rasheed, said that the Home Minister, Sheikh Imran Abdulla, has to take the responsibility for the taking Adeeb back to prison against medical advice and the poor medical treatment of the former President in prison. The He said that Adeeb was taken back in violation to the related regulations.

MP Yaamin said that the Home Minister just returned from his visit abroad today and is immediately “showing his power” by transferring Adeeb back to prison.
