So far, over 10,000 undocumented immigrants from Bangladesh have been repatriated.

Maldivian revealed that their repatriation flights to Bangladesh transported 200 Bangladeshis from the Maldives to their capital Dhaka.

They added that this was the 50th repatriation flight. Maldivian added that so far 9,633 Bangladeshis had been repatriated by them.

The government had increased its efforts to repatriate undocumented immigrants this year. As such under the joint efforts by the Economic Ministry and the Immigration Department, two flights from Bangladesh were also chartered by the Maldivian government to repatriate undocumented immigrants.

Economic Ministry had said that a total of 15,000 people had been repatriated back to Bangladesh. This included undocumented immigrants among those who wanted to return to Bangladesh as well.

The Ministry also noted that the target for the year is to repatriate 20,000 undocumented immigrants.
