Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has said that this past Saturday had the highest flight movements recorded on a single day at Velana International Airport (VIA) since the Maldives reopened its borders on 15 July.

MACL said that 352 flight movements were recorded at VIA on 5 December 202, Saturday.

Aside from the flight movements, Tourism Minister, Abdulla Mausoom said that the day also marks the highest number of tourists visiting the country on a single say with over 2,900 tourists. Statistics from MACL shows over 3,100 tourists visiting the Maldives.

With two records made on Saturday since the border reopening, three airlines also start flights to the Maldives on that they. They are the British Airways along with the two airlines starting flights to the Maldives for the first ti,, Air Seychelles and the national airline of Kazakhstan, Air Astana.

Statistics from the Tourism Ministry show over 20 international airlines starting flights to the Maldives since the border reopening while the Ministry has said that about seven more airlines will be starting flights before the end of this month.
