The Foreign Minister, Abdulla Shahid has met with the US Ambassador Teplitz and Assistant Secretary of Defense to the Maldives to discusse ways of further strengthening the existing ties between the two countries.

At the meeting held at the Foreign Ministry, the Assistant Secretary of Defense, Schriver and Ambassador Teplitz assured the US Government’s readiness in providing assistance and support especially in the defense sector and was keen in exploring future U.S. support for security cooperation activities in the Maldives.

Foreign Minister Shahid was accompanied by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Khaleel, Foreign Secretary, Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed and Ms. Thilzeema Hussain who is nominated as the Maldivian Ambassador to the United States of America by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
