Commissioner General of Maldives Customs, Mr. Ahmed Nooman has said that there are challenges to providing services at customs due to staff shortages.

Speaking at 'Fas manzaru Program' on VTV, Nooman said that there are various capable and skillful employees at Maldives Customs. However, there are various challenges due to staff shortages, considering all the services are provided by the institution,

Nooman said that while services of Maldives Customs extend from the north to the south of Maldives, there are not enough staff to handle to full extent of services. He noted that it is because of the staff shortage that causes interruptions in providing services and that there are various other challenges due to this.

The Commissioner said that tourism is one of the fastest growing sectors in Maldives and that services provided by Customs needs to keep up with the pace of the tourism industry.
