Strong winds destroy traffic light at the highway junction

Strong winds in the Male’ City area has destroyed a traffic light at the junction of the Hulhumale’ Highway, Sinamale’ Bridge and Hulhule’.

The heavy rain and strong wind in the Male’ area since last night had destroyed the traffic light for the lanes between Male’ and Hulhumale’.

With the traffic light no longer functional, Maldives Police Service is manually controlling the traffic in the area to ensure the safe travel.

A media official of the Housing Ministry told One Online that the traffic light repairs are being carried out by the CCCC Second Harbor Engineering and they would complete the repairs sometime today.

Male’ City had experienced heavy rain from last night to this morning with strong winds. An official from the MET Office told One Online that this morning at 7:30 a.m., Male’ City recorded winds at 45 mph.
