203 cases have been filed at the Civil Court, claiming that Sea Life Global has carried out a 'housing scam' and taken booking fees and down payments for flats with nothing in return.

Corporate and Public Interest Lawyer, Mariyam Shunana, said that the case has been filed against Sea Life Global, its directors as well as the Ministry of Economic Development and the Housing Development Corporation (HDC). She further said that the case has now been registered officially at Civil Court.

Shunana notes that this is one of the biggest class action lawsuits in the Maldives to date, and is optimistic that justice will be served to those who suffered losses due to the scam.

The case of the housing scam, claiming that funds were taken by Sea Life Global from people with nothing in return, was submitted to the Anti-Corruption Commission and Maldives Police Service on October 2018.
