Classes are set to resume for students through grades 9 to 12 starting October 4th in Male' City.

Education Ministry confirmed that Key Stage 4 and 5 (Grades 9-12) will resume classes in Male' City Schools starting October 4th.

The decision was made under the advisement of the Health Protection Agency (HPA) and the relevant authorities in light of the current situation of COVID-19 in the city.

Last March, the Education Ministry announced that schools would be closed due to the spread of COVID-19. Soon afterward, teleclasses began along with online classes on various platforms.

Schools reopened across the country on 1 July with numerous safety precautions under the new normal. While the schools in Male’ Area began classes for students in Grade 9 and above, normal classes resumed in the rest of the country. However, due to the rapid spread of COVID-19, schools in Male' City were closed till further notice once again.

Under the new normal, students are required to wear face masks to school, physical distancing is being practiced at all times. As part of the effort, the number of students in each class has been reduced as well.
