Maldives Third-Way Democrats (MTD) has called for former Vice President of Maldives, and the party's current President Mr. Ahmed Adeeb to be granted house arrest as per medical advice. The party has also said that the issue of Adeeb's imprisonment should not be further politicized.
The President of MTD was previously granted house arrest following a medical procedure and taken back to prison sometime last night.
In a statement released by MTD , the party says that Adeeb had been transferred to house arrest till 27th of January 2019 and that while this is the case, the premature, sudden arrest of Adeeb is concerning. The party has also noted that Adeeb had been carrying out medical treatment during the term of his house arrest by fully cooperating with the Ministry of Home Affairs and Correctional Services.
MTD further said they gravely condemn the sudden arrest of Adeeb following assurances by the Minister for Home Affairs Sheikh Imran Abdullah in a press conference held last night. The party said that Adeeb was arrested shortly after Sheikh Imran assured that the medical treatments of Adeeb under house arrest will be carried out as per medical advice.
Maldives Third-Way Democrats have now said that the issue of Adeeb's imprisonment should not be further politicized and has assured the people that the party will do everything in its' power to ensure that the medical treatments of Adeeb are carried out properly and that Adeeb gets transferred back to house arrest.
