FormerPresident Nasheed said that Maldivians can be a fulfilled people, only when proper courts and Judiciary have been established.

Speaking at an event launching a campaign for MDP Primaries of Parliamentary hopeful for the Villufushi constituency Mr. Hassan Afeef, Nasheed expressed the people's wishes. He said that, for the past five years, the people of Maldives have been calling in one voice for fairness and reform of the Judiciary and that the people want the courts to be a place of justice.

"Today, the people of Maldives are certain of the link between a just legal system and their own progress" Nasheed said. "The Maldivian people can only be a fulfilled people with the establishment of a proper Judiciary and court. Issues such as housing, employment opportunities, healthcare and education for the children are all linked to the Judiciary".

The former president further said that the breaking down of the Judiciary results in great setbacks for the people of this country and that if the Judiciary is unable to implement justice; be it regarding the matters of civilians or politicians, the country cannot move forward.

Nasheed said, "The setbacks faced by the Maldivian people due to the breaking down of its' Judiciary is numerous. Even if a foreign business wanted to work with Maldives, they can only bring in the finances if the security of these finances are guaranteed".

He further said that the future Parliament of Maldives will be capable of Judiciary reform and that it is apparent that MDP has the support of the Maldivian people.
