The Presidential Commission assigned with the task of investigating previous deaths and disappearances states that it will investigate the death of Maldivian student studying in Bangladesh - Raudha Athif, and 24 other cold cases.
Speaking at a press conference held today by the Presidential Commission, the President of the commission Mr. Husnu Suood states that there will be several cases under investigation. This includes the case of the disappearance of journalist Ahmed Rilwan Abdullah as well as that of the death of blogger Yameen Rasheed. In addition to that, the commission will also probe into the murder of former Ungoofaaru Constituent Afrasheem Ali.
Suood further stated other cases being investigated, that includes the murder of Mohamed Anas of R. Meedhoo as well as that of the deaths of convicts who died in prison.
The President of the commission said that the investigations are being conducted with permission from family members and that it is possible that the number of cases being investigated increase in the future. This is because the commission is still accepting additional cases that are presented to them.
