Former Vice President Dr. Jameel Ahmed has signed to the opposition, Progressive Party of Maldives.

Dr. Jameel signed to PPM during an event held tonight, where he presented his form to the President of PNC, Abdul Raheem Abdulla. He was then appointed the advisor of the Progressive Coalition which includes PPM and PNC.

Jameel was last part of the ruling coalition as a member of Jumhooree Party.

Speaking during the event, Dr. Jameel said that the solution for Maldives is to work to free former President Abdulla Yameen and to elect him as the President in 2023.

Dr. Jameel first filled in as the Vice President for President Yameen, who was met with widespread criticism for sacking him. He later joined JP, but has been heavily criticising the party and ruling coalition after joining President Yameen's legal team.
