Repairs have begun on the west apron of the Velana International Airport (VIA).

Operators of VIA, Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), said that China’s Beijing Urban Construction Group (BUCG) is developing an area of 35,000 square meters.

And once their work is complete, a Multiple Aircraft Ramp System (MARS) of code F will be developed which can accommodate the parking of two A380 planes at the same time.

The southwest apron developed by BUCG has already been open and is in use. The apron is designed to the modern international standards to accommodate planes of two sizes.
