Biggest private-run hospital in the Maldives, ADK Hospital has begun installation of a PCR machine.

COVID-19 tests are being taken at the machines located in IGMH as well as the Police Forensics Lab.

Speaking to "One Online", Chief Medical Officer at ADK Hospital, Dr. Abdulla Niyaf noted that a PCR Machine had been brought through ADK Shipping and General Trading and that training the necessary personnel are now underway.

Dr. Niyaf further revealed that the machine had been manufactured in Germany and that as per their general regulations, personnel are coming to train relevant staff and for the installation of the machine. However due to the closure of borders during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has shifted the training and guiding the installation process online.

The doctor highlighted that with the installation of the machine, over 500 tests for COVID-19 can be carried out at the hospital daily. He also added that it will take about three to four hours for the results to be processed.

Currently about 300-350 samples are tested daily in the Maldives.
