Ministry of Islamic Affairs have declared that April 24th, Friday is first of Ramadan for the year.

Islamic Minister Dr Ahmed Zahir made the announcement that the new moon has not been sighted in any parts of Maldives nor in any other islamic nations, meaning that tomorrow, April 23rd is the last day of Sha'ban.

Even though the Maldives has banned prayer congregations as a precautionary measure against the spread of COVID-19 across the country, the Ministry had previously advised to carry out prayers as well as Tarawih prayer at home.
