Maldives to quarantine all arriving passengers by air except tourists checking-in to resorts

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced to quarantine all passengers travelling to Maldives by air except for tourists checking-in to resorts.

A statement issued Maimoona Aboobakuru, Director General of Public Health noted that all passengers travelling to Maldives by air except for tourists checking-in to resorts will be quarantined for 14 days at a place designated by the government.

The measure will be active starting 1600 hours on 21st March and will remain active until further notice.

The Maldivian government has been taking strict measures to contain the spread of Covid-19 in the Maldives. As such, the government has been shutdown for a week while parks have been closed and travel between local islands and resorts have been banned. In addition to this all educational institutions have been closed down while dine-ins at Cafe's and Restaurants have been banned.

S0 far 13 positive cases of Covid-19 has been found in the Maldives, of which two patients have recovered. No Maldivian has tested positive as of yet.
