Malaysia has declared a two week lockdown amid the spread of the Coronavirus in the nation.

Malaysia Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin made the announcement while addressing the nation tonight.

The Lockdown is effective March 18 - March 31. Under this all assemblies including religious, sport, social and cultural activities are prohibited. All houses of worship, business premises must be closed, execpt for supermarkets, public markets, sundry & convenient stores selling daily essentials.

It also imposes a full ban on overseas travel for Malaysians. Those returning from overseas, they must undergo health screening and self-quarantine for 14 days. All tourists and foreign visitors however have been banned from entering Malaysia.

In addition to these, all public and private educational institutions will be closed as well.

All government and private premises except those providing essential services: among them, water, electricity, telcos, postal services, transportation, fuel, broadcast services, banks, healthcare, pharmacies, airports, security, defence, food supplies will also be closed.
