Two tourists in Summer Island monitored to Coronavirus, resort on lockdown

Summer Island Resort has been placed under a temporary lockdown as two tourists in the island are being tested for the Covid-19 Coronavirus.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed that two French tourists are being transferred after being suspected of carrying the Coronavirus. They are due to be tested for the virus.

In accordance to the current protocol, Summer Island Resort has since been put under lockdown. The HPA revealed that they will reveal further information as it becomes clearer.

V. Thinadhoo and Kuredu Island Resort has also been placed under lockdown after suspected cases of the virus were found in both the islands. Test results from both islands will be available today according to the Tourism Minister, after which a decision on lifting the lockdown will be made.

Global infection rate has now crossed over 100,000 people while death toll from the Coronavirus now stands at 3,400. There are no confirmed cases of the virus in the Maldives as of yet.
