Maldives Correctional Service has said that three prison officers were injured in a violent outburst last night at the Asseyri Jail in Kaafu Atoll Hinmafushi.

Today, the Correctional Service said that the officers were injured during an attempt to remove a banned object from an inmate. Corrections said that other inmates were involved in the scuffle.

However, the violence was quickly subdued and the prison resumed to normal operations.

While three officers were injured, no inmate was injured in the incident according to the Correctional Service, and further action is being taking regarding the incident.
