High Court has scheduled an appealing hearing for the Money Laundering trial of former President Abdulla Yameen for tomorrow.

The former president is currently serving a five year jail term after the court found him guilty of money laundering.

According to the High Court schedule, the appeal hearing is set for 1.00pm tomorrow. During this hearing, appeal points will be presented along with their answers.

President Yameen was fount to be guilty of money laundering and was sentenced to prison for five years alongside a fine of USD five million by the Criminal Court on November 28, 2019.

During the first appeal hearing of the case held at the High Court last month, the former strongman noted that he is suffering from a serious heart problem alongside an impending spine operation. During this hearing, he had highlighted that his doctors had recommended that all of his healthcare needs will be fulfilled abroad. As such, doctors have recommended to seek treatment for his heart condition abroad while tests for his spine aren't even available to be done in the Maldives.

Hence he had requested to postpone his jail sentence and to let him free under bail, in order to seek the medical help he needs. However, during the hearing held on February 6th it was noted that there was no room to let him delay serving his jail sentence.

President Yameen was brought to IGMH last Wednesday to run some tests, and have since been transferred back to prison.
