Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid has discussed counter-terrorism and the Maldivian democracy with the Under Secretary of State at the US State Department, David Hale.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 74th United Nations General Assembly taking place in New York. The two discussed the stability in the Indian Ocean along with cooperation to develop the Maldivian economy and the efforts against terrorism, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Minister Shahid has met with high-ranking officials of the US Foreign Office on two separate occasions. And Minister Shahid visited the US upon the invitation from the US Foreign Secretary for the first time in the past seven years and met with Foreign Secretary Mike Pompeo.
Foreign Minister is accompanying the President, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on his visit to New York to make an address at the UN General Assembly.
