Maldives Police Service has arrested two people during an attempt to smuggle numerous objects in to Maafushi Prison.

Following a report to the police at 2:25 a.m. last night, police arrested two local men of the ages 21 and 26 in a special operation with the Maldives Correctional Service. The two have been remanded into the custody of the police for further investigation.

And so, the 21-year-old suspect was remanded by ten days while the 26-year-old suspect was remanded to 15 days. They were arrested with different mobile phones, chargers along the following items:

  • Seven Dhiraagu SIM cards
  • 62 phone chargers
  • 39 USB cables
  • 22 headsets
  • Five adapters
  • 41 smart phones
  • One L8Star phone
  • Two sewing kits
  • Five nail clippers
  • Five superglue bottles
  • Five box cutters
  • Three pocket knives
  • Two Fem bottles
  • Two boxes of box cutter blades
  • Two Iodine Salt packets
  • Four mirrors
  • 12 bow saw blades
  • Five spoons
  • Five forks

Maafushi Police Station is investigating the case further.
