The National Disaster Management Authority emphasized that today they have commenced conducting the engineering assessment of 43 houses that were evacuated due to the fire last night.
NDMA made the statement during the meeting with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih today.
They also stated that they would give permission for the residents to come back to their homes after conducting a full assessment of the affected houses and after cleaning up the aftermath of the fire.
Speaking during a press conference today, Defense Minister Mariya Ahmed Didi revealed that 87 people from 13 different families have been provided shelter from the 443 who were affected.
A chemical warehouse in H. Thilafushi caught fire first and later spread onto three additional warehouses and six residential buildings eventually taking the life of one woman.
