Maldivian Foreign Minister, Abdulla Shahid has discussed the issue of the conflict of Kashmir with the Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
The Maldivian Foreign Ministry said that Minister Shahid received a telephone call from Minister Mahmood Qureshi. The two discussed recent developments in Jammu and Kashmir and conveyed the views of the Government of Pakistan on the decision of the Government of India to repeal Article 370 of the Indian Constitution.
Minister Shahid thanked Minister Qureshi for the telephone call and stated that both Pakistan and India are close friends and bilateral partners of the Maldives and stressed the importance of resolving differences between countries amicably through peaceful means.
Foreign Minister Shahid also stated that Maldives viewed the decision taken by India regarding Article 370 of the Indian Constitution as an internal matter according to the Maldivian Foreign Ministry.
Minister Shahid assured Minister Qureshi that Maldives will always remain a close friend of Pakistan and expressed his confidence that the Maldives and Pakistan will continue to cooperate in advancing interests on areas of mutual concern, bilaterally, regionally, and internationally.
