The signatures required to register the Maldives Reform Movement (MRM), led by the former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, as a political party has been collected and registration form has been filed at the Elections Commission.

A tweet sent out by the Elections Commission today said that 3313 member signatures were submitted to the Commission under the permit to form MRM.

The permit was initially given to Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Ibrahim Hassan. However, it was later revoked and given to the Minister of Heritage, Yumna Maumoon.

The forms were submitted to the Elections Commission today by Minister Yumna Maumoon.

Former President Maumoon decided to register his reform movement as a political party after his lost the leadership of PPM and the Supreme Court validated the PPM Congress in September.

With the registration of MRM as a political party, it will be the third political party to be formed by the former President, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.
