Former Vice President, Ahmed Adeeb Abdul Gafoor has testified in court against the former President, Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom saying that cheques received to the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) was being deposited to private companies and on orders from the former President, that money was taken to different places.

Answering questions posed by President Yameen, Adeeb confessed that money from MMPRC was deposited to SOF on direct orders from President Yameen. He asserted that all of this was done on orders of President Yameen, and confessed that he had committed the crimes even though they were illegal.

Adeeb further added that he does not wish to hide anything related to the case, and highlighted that he does not mind if another charge is pressed against him after his confessions during the trial.

Adeeb asserted that those involved in the MMPRC Corruption Scandal were acquaintances of President Yameen, the same way they were his.

He also noted that text messages in his phone and evidence collected by the Police will reveal that the people involved in this interacted with President Yameen as well, often time carrying money to the residence of President Yameen as well.
