Former Vice President, Ahmed Adeeb Abdul Gafoor has testified against the former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom in court in the money laundering trial.

Adeeb was summoned to the court today after the hearing went recess because the police failed to bring him in at 11 a.m. today. The hearing resumed around 11:40 a.m. after he was finally presented to the court.

The state had questioned Adeeb on the financial transactions of PPM during his tenure as the Vice President of the party and about the corruption scandal of MMPRC.

Adeeb noted that funds were raised for each campaign when the time was near and noted that President Yameen had not talked of any campaign events in 2015. However he added that President Yameen would often talk about MMPRC money back then.

Adeeb further revealed that President Yameen had contacted him and encouraged him to go forward with the works, even after the launch explosion incident in 2015.

He also said that all transactions involved in the MMPRC corruption scandal were conducted under direct orders of President Yameen and that he was completely aware of the massive corruption that took place in MMPRC.
