Former Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has been appointed to lead the legal team of the former President, Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

Talking to One Online, the Secretary General of PPM, Mohamed Shakeel said that Dr. Jameel joined the team as the head person and is currently working with the team.

Shakeel said that Dr. Jameel working with the former President Yameen is a joyous occasion and PPM members can relax a bit more.

The first Vice President of the Yameen Administration, Dr. Jameel, had previously said that he would assist the legal team stating that President Yameen should receive a fair trial.

While Dr. Jameel has come forward to protect President Yameen from severe accusations, he also worked hard to elect President Yameen.

At the latest hearing, Yameen’s defense team was given a period of five days to present witnesses. The next hearing in the trial is set for 4 August.

Dr. Jameel is also leading the legal team of the Supreme Court Judge, Abdulla Didi.
