The Ministry of Economic Development, Transport and Trade has announced that legal action will be taken against businesses that fail to display prices on items placed for sale.

In a gazette notification issued by the Economic Ministry today, the ministry stated it has been receiving complaints that a significant number of goods displayed for sale in retail establishments lack clear price tags visible to consumers.

Under the Consumer Protection Act, it is prohibited to display any goods for sale without making the price clearly apparent to the buyer. The ministry noted that, according to the law, prices are considered properly displayed only if the price is directly written, printed, or attached to the item itself, or prominently displayed where the goods are placed in a manner that clearly indicates which item the price corresponds to.

Consequently, the Economic Ministry has urged all vendors to ensure that prices are clearly visible on all items offered for sale in accordance with legal requirements.

The ministry added that it will actively inspect and monitor businesses to ensure compliance with the standards set forth in the Consumer Protection Act, and will enforce legal penalties against any establishments operating in violation of these regulations.
