Mohamed Sinan, the former member of the People's Majlis for the Addu City Hithadhoo North constituency, was appointed as the Managing Director of AgroNAT, a subsidiary of MIFCO, today.

According to MIFCO, Mohamed Sinan (Hulhudhuge, S. Hithadhoo) was appointed to the post of Managing Director of AgroNAT, while Mohamed Anas (Dheyaliyaage, G.A. Dhevvadhoo), who currently serves as the CEO of MIFCO, was appointed as the Chairman of AgroNAT. The decision to appoint these two individuals to senior positions at AgroNAT was finalized during a MIFCO board meeting held today.

Former MP Sinan appointed as Managing Director of AgroNAT

While the MIFCO board today approved the appointment of these individuals to the top two positions of AgroNAT—which operates as a subsidiary of MIFCO—this marks a management restructuring for the company.

Although Sinan won the 2024 election competing on a PNC ticket, he lost his parliamentary seat last April after the Supreme Court upheld a definitive debt ruling against him. Following that, Sinan also won the internal party primary to secure the party ticket; however, he subsequently relinquished the ticket to fellow contender Ahmed Saeed (Soda). In the by-election held on June 6th, former Addu City Mayor Abdulla Sodhiq (Sobe), contesting on an MDP ticket, defeated Saeed and won the seat.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced the decision to convert AgroNAT into a MIFCO subsidiary during a press conference held on the 7th of last month. Previously, Hussain Didi, who served as the Managing Director of AgroNAT, was dismissed on April 6th.
