More than 1.6 million tourists have visited the Maldives so far this year.
According to statistics released by the Ministry of Tourism today, 1,622,063 tourists had visited by yesterday. This represents a 3.6 percent decrease compared to the 1,678,547 tourists who arrived in the Maldives during the same period in 2025.
China continues to maintain its position as the top tourism market for the Maldives. Specifically, 307,511 tourists have visited from China so far. Russia follows in second place with 231,899 tourists, while the United Kingdom occupies third place with 120,837 tourists.
A large majority of the arriving tourists traveled via Velana International Airport (VIA), accounting for 1,588,065 visitors. In addition, 5,636 tourists arrived via Gan International Airport, and 15,583 tourists arrived by sea through seaports.
Looking at tourist accommodation, 1,172,792 tourists spent their holidays in resorts, while 348,746 tourists vacationed in guesthouses located on inhabited islands. Furthermore, 36,486 tourists stayed in hotels.
