The Maldives and Kuwait have discussed further strengthening relations between the two countries in the health sector and other key areas.

On the sidelines of the 2026 Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) annual meeting held in Doha, Qatar, Minister of Finance Hassan Zareer met with Kuwait's Minister of Finance, Dr. Yaqoub Al-Sayyid Al-Rifai, and held discussions.

During the meeting, discussions were held on the ongoing cooperation between the two countries in the health sector and coastal protection.

Furthermore, the two officials discussed and exchanged views on opportunities to further strengthen and expand relations with the Kuwaiti government and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) through various planned development projects.
