Dhiraagu will organise a 'Clean-Up and Social Swim' at Rasfannu on 8 and 15 August as part of preparations for the Dhiraagu Malé Open 2026 and to strengthen ties among open-water swimmers.

The events will begin with a beach clean-up, followed by a social swim involving all participants.

Dhiraagu said the initiative aims to bring swimmers, families and friends together while promoting environmental conservation and raising awareness about protecting the Maldives' marine environment.

Organised by Swim Maldives, the Dhiraagu Malé Open 2026 seeks to promote open-water swimming in the Maldives and encourage greater participation in the sport. The competition will be held at Rasfannu on 21 and 22 August.

Registration has been extended until 9 August. Swimmers can compete in the 1km, 500m and 250m races, as well as a new 500m team relay category introduced this year.

The media partner for the event is One Online.
