Raaraa Pro 2026 - the largest kitesurfing event - has been officially announced to be held in Dhiffushi from June 1 to 6.
Organized by Iconic Events, the competition aims to promote the Maldives as an international kitesurfing destination while boosting sports tourism and local businesses.
The first edition of the event was held last year in Dhiffushi, featuring 20 athletes. This year, the competition will expand to include both slalom racing and freestyle kiteboarding categories.
Speaking at the launch, founder Hassan Rasheed said the event is expected to attract more international participants and further raise the profile of the sport in the country.
Local athlete Wisam Mohamed has been named the event’s ambassador after securing third place in last year’s competition.
Organizers hope the event will strengthen tourism in Dhiffushi while growing interest in kitesurfing across the Maldives.
