The Maldives defeated Nepal 2–1 in the SAFF Futsal Championship match played on Sunday at the Nonthaburi Province Stadium Indoor Hall.
With the win, the Maldives have now won all four of their matches in the tournament and sit on 12 points. They have recorded victories against Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan and remain on course to lift the trophy.
Although the Maldives failed to score in the first half, they created several chances, with Ahmed Rahil Rasheed and Ali Shiyale leading attacks on the Nepal goal. Abdulla Shafiu opened the scoring early in the second half, before Vikranth Nasin equalised for Nepal.
Nepal were reduced to four players in the 13th minute when Amit Lama received a straight red card for fouling Shafiu. Captain Mohamed Imran then scored the winning goal for the Maldives.
The Maldives need just two points from their remaining two matches to secure the championship and will compete with Pakistan for the title.
