The Hyundai and Golden Futsal Challenge 2026, the largest futsal tournament in the Maldives, is underway with matches in the Shaviyani Atoll round. Several strong teams, including Kanditheemu, defending champions Milandhoo, Funadhoo, and Foakaidhoo, have made a positive start.
A total of eight teams from Shaviyani Atoll are competing in this year’s tournament. In Group A, Kanditheemu defeated Maroshi 4–2. Ibrahim Niyaz Niyaz and Shaiban Usman scored for Maroshi, but Kanditheemu turned the game around in the second half. Raul Niyaz scored a hat-trick for Kanditheemu while Captain Ibrahim Nadhadh scored a fourth goal.
Foakaidhoo secured a narrow 3–2 win, with goals from Mohamed Iyan Ismail, Abdulla Rushdhan, and Mohamed Samhan. Hussain Faris and Abdulla Rimah scored for their opponents.
In Group B, Funadhoo beat Komandoo 3–2. Ali Shaihan Naseem scored twice for Funadhoo, while Hassan Adil added the third goal. The opposing team scored both their goals through Hussain Hammad.
Defending atoll champions Milandhoo also began their campaign with a 1–0 victory over Goidhoo, with Ahmed Siyam scoring the winning goal in the second half.
