Football Association of Maldives (FAM) has confirmed that the Palestinian national under-17 football team has requested to hold a training camp in the Maldives.
According to FAM, the Palestinian Football Association has asked to arrange a stay for the team from 1–19 November, during which they hope to play two friendly matches against the Maldives under-17 side. The FAM Executive Committee has approved the request and will seek government support and sponsorship to facilitate the visit.
The move comes as Palestinian teams face difficulties training in their own country due to the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Israel’s continuing attacks have forced Palestinian athletes to prepare abroad, with reports that dozens of sportsmen, including footballers, have been killed in recent months.
