Aishath Rafa Nazim has won the women's singles championship, ending Fathimath Dheema Ali's record of winning the national table tennis tournament's women's singles title for the last five years. Meanwhile, Mohamed Shaffan Ismail has won the men's singles championship for the third time.

In the women's final of the national TT tournament that concluded yesterday at Henveiru Muniufaa TT Hall, Rafa and Dheema competed once again. Previously, Dheema had won the trophy five times by defeating Rafa.

In yesterday's final, Rafa won the match in straight four sets, with scores of 11-09, 11-09, 11-06, and 15-13.

Rafa had previously won the national trophy in 2017 and 2018. This time, in the mixed doubles final, the pair of Rafa and Moosa Munsif Ahmed defeated the pair of Shaffan and Dheema.

Dheema and Mishka Mohamed Ibrahim won the women's doubles championship, with Rafa and Minha Mahjoob Shuja as runners-up.

Shaffan won the men's singles trophy against Munsif. After missing last year due to injury, Shaffan won the trophy, losing the first set 13-11 but winning the subsequent sets 7-11, 11-13, 8-11, and 16-18.

Shaffan had won the national championship in 2022 and 2023, and has now repeated his previous form after returning from injury.

Shaffan and Ibrahim Auzam Azeem lost in the men's doubles final to Munsif and Mohamed Zeesth Naseem.

This time, Ismail Mazham won the veterans' championship, while Dheema and Zeek Hassan Lateef were the champions in the under-19 category. Aishath Alsa Nafiz and Mohamed Halaf Rafiu were the singles champions in the under-17 category.

Alsa also won the under-15 singles championship, while Mohamed Aal Imran was the boys' singles champion in that age group. Ayyoob Izkaan Saleem and Aishath Malak Thaseen won the under-13 singles championships.

After yesterday's final events, a closing ceremony was held, which was graced by the First Lady of Maldives, Sajida Mohamed.
