Foreign Ministry has said that six agreements are to be signed during the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s visit to the Maldives.

Speaking at a news conference today on the Indian Prime Minister’s visit, Minister of State for the Foreign Ministry, Ahmed Khaleel said that six agreements from five sectors will be signed during the visit.

Agreements up for signing to provide training in civil service and customs along with agreements in customs and shipping including one to start cargo ferry service between Maldives and Kochi, India.

State Minister Khaleel said that on this visit, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the radar system donated by India and the MNDF composite training system in Lhaviyani Maafilafushi in a joint press conference.

He said that the Indian Prime Minister will be arriving tomorrow afternoon and be officially welcomed at the Republic Square at 4 p.m. before the signing ceremony at the President’s Office.

Tomorrow night, the President and the First Lady would host the Prime Minister at Kurumba Maldives for a special dinner. Prime Minister Modi is also set to address the Maldivian Parliament.

Khaleel said that the Indian Prime Minister would meet with government officials and political leaders on his visit before concluding his visit on Sunday morning.

The official Indian delegation visiting with Prime Minister includes ten officials along with about a 100 more in a non-official capacity according to the Maldivian Foreign Minister.
